We
have designated a Logon I.D. and password for each pet at Queen
West Animal Hospital and are in the process of providing you online
access to components of your pets' medical records at our hospital.
We will let you know when this service becomes available.

Some
pets are better suited for some individuals or families. We will
help you make the right choice and always recommend researching
the selection of a new pet. We would be happy to help you with this
selection process. Give us a call to schedule a consultation.
Also,
check the 'Links' section of this website for other helpful sites
in the selection of a new pet. Of particular interest is the Ontario
Veterinary Medical Association's website at www.ovma.org.
They have an excellent online service set up for prospective pet
owners.

Young
animals require special attention and care. At Queen West Animal
Hospital we offer medical and surgical care aimed at meeting the
needs of new puppies and kittens and their owners. If possible,
please contact us before your new pets are six weeks old to arrange
for their first visit to a veterinarian. This first visit will cover
a wide range of topics, from nutrition and behaviour to deworming
and vaccines.

Queen
West Animal Hospital, we recognize the special needs of aging pets.
In response to the growing demand for senior pet care, we offer
wellness laboratory testing, dentistry, orthopedic examinations,
special anesthetic protocols and nutrition evaluation. If you consider
your pet to be senior, please email
or call us to arrange a consultation.

Queen
West Animal Hospital is about more than just dogs and cats. Many
of our staff have specific interests in a variety of exotic pets.
We welcome consultations with:
Ferrets
Mice
Gerbils
Guinea pigs
Snakes |
Rabbits
Iguanas
Rats
Hamsters
Other reptiles |
We
prefer, however, if scheduled appointments are made for these pets
to insure appropriate staffing at the time of your appointment.
Please email or call
us to learn more.

Nutrition
represents one of the critical aspects of preventative healthcare
in pets.
Dietary
issues will be discussed during all annual exams. Additionally,
new puppy and kitten owners and owners with specific nutrition concerns
can take advantage of nutrition consultations with both our veterinary
and technical staff. We will help you to create and implement a
dietary program to suit your pets' needs.
At
Queen West Animal Hospital, we are proud to offer high quality pet
food from Medi-Cal and Hills. Other brands of high quality pet food,
however, can be special ordered upon request. Please email
or call us to learn more about these programs.

As
our understanding and the demand for complimentary therapies grows,
Queen West Animal Hospital has responded by openly discussing and
pursuing these options with interested clients. Although the current
emphasis at Queen West Animal Hospital is traditional western medicine,
it is our goal to provide choice to our clients and recommend the
best possible care for their pets.
As
our veterinary and technical staff become better trained and educated
in complimentary therapies, we will be happy to serve as a resource
in pursuing these treatment and diagnostic options.

The
death of a pet can be a devastating loss. Add the emotional weight
of elective euthanasia and it is often too much for some to bear.
We understand far too well the emotional needs of our clients at
these times. We are therefore flexible in our euthanasia policies
and will do our best to accommodate your wishes. Although we do
regret that we are unable to offer house calls, we will attempt
to make you and your pet feel at home.
Additionally,
we will be happy to offer grief counseling at our hospital or, for
more serious cases, offer resources and referrals. Please email
or call us if you have any questions on pet loss, grief or euthanasia.

Because
the best medicine is prevention, wellness evaluations are an integral
component of pet care at Queen West Animal Hospital. Available to
all species of all ages, wellness testing complements the diagnostic
value of a routine physical examination. Depending on the needs
of your pets, wellness testing can include blood and urine tests,
radiographs, ultrasound and electrocardiograms. We will tailor the
wellness program to meet the needs of your pets. Please email or
call us to further discuss the advantages of wellness testing for
your pets.
